Farpoint's strength in doing remote surveys is our knowledge of the difficulties of working in remote areas of Alaska. As-Built / Plot Plans

Shows structures relative to the record boundary. Commonly requested by financiers (banks) and Municipality.


When subdividing a parcel of land a plat must be produced. The surveyor determines the parent parcel boundary and sets new boundaries for the parcels within it.

638 BLM Cadastral Survey

These are the surveys that create, mark, define, retrace, or reestablish the boundaries and subdivisions of the public lands of the United States.


A geographic information system (GIS) is a system designed to capture, manipulate, store, manage, analyze, and present all types of geographical data.

Boundary Surveys

Defines boundary lines by finding property corners, setting them, and producing a plat. This is commonly requested by land owners and attorneys

Design Surveys

A topographic survey that shows all visible improvements and located utilities. Used for designing and planning. Commonly requested by engineers.

Hydrographic Surveys

The science of measurement and description of features which affect marine construction, maritime navigation, dredging, offshore oil exploration/drilling.

ALTA / ACSM Survey

An extensive commercial as-built that typically defines the boundary of the parcel along with buildings, driveways, and any other items required. Commonly requested by attorneys or title companies and land owners.

Legal Description

A surveyor may be hired to write legal descriptions for the purpose of new leases based on existing documents of record, or for the purpose of writing and filing of new easements, or for subdivision of large tract parcels by deed. Commonly requested by attorneys and land owners.

Condo Plats

A graphical representation of defined three dimensional space so that the described space can be sold. The condo plat is recorded in the appropriate recorder’s office and is then used, as part of public record, for reference in deed documents for the conveyance.

Michael Horne

I have more than 50 years of survey experience, 35 years in the State of Alaska. I am experience in various types of surveys - including numerous ASLS surveys and subdivisions from Bethel, Cordova, Ketchikan, Anchorage and more.

I have a strong background and a trusted reputation for providing the State of Alaska with quality service on large survey projects that are performed on time and within budget.

Marc Eid

Robert Lumpkin

I started surveying in Alaska in the early 1990s and have experience in Design, Boundary, Subdivison, Construction Surveying and more.

I have worked in many areas of Alaska and also worked 10 years in South Korea, Russia and China for the oil and gas industry on the construction and setting of modular buildings.
